Hi. I'm Nikki. I recently made the huge decision to leave my job in the food industry to go travelling.

 

Working in food innovation has triggered a desire to go in search of other cool, unusual and/or innovative products. Hopefully my discoveries will inspire the creation of something deliciously unorthodox... This Blog will document what I find.

 

I was born and bred in the lovely Yorkshire town of Harrogate. Now admittedly this is not the most gastronimically exciting places to visit, however in recent years a multitude of restaurants and eateries have continued to pop up making it easy to find pretty much any style of food you could want. In fact, I can't go home without my mum exclaiming that she has been to a fantastic new resaurant that "I have to try"

 

My family has a history of enjoying the finer food in life. For me it was hard to avoid. My Grandpa was Italian and along with my Grandma owned an award winning restaurant "The Lanterna". On the other side I couldn't visit my other Grandma without the smells of freshly baked something wafting through the house. To this end I have grown up loving to bake, and cook, and eat. 

 

Following my passion for food, I have spent the last 2 years in N. Ireland/ Ireland working on a novel yogurt product "Yollies" (if you dont know what "Yollies" are, go find out. They are awesome and brilliantly innovative, if I do say so myself). At times, I nearly lost the will, but overall it was an enjoyable and challenging experience and has triggered a desire to go in search of other cool, unusual and/or innovative products. Hopefully my discoveries will inspire the creation of something deliciously unorthodox...
